Quiet Circle

A daily check-in for the people you love

Quiet Circle is a daily check-in app for families who live apart. It lets you check on aging parents, and each other, from a few simple signs of activity on each person's own phone, without calling to ask and without tracking where anyone is.

Quiet Circle is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

How the daily check-in works

  1. Create a circle

Start a circle in the app and invite your family with a QR code or a link.

  2. Each person chooses to share

Everyone installs Quiet Circle on their own phone and agrees there to share a few simple signs of activity.

  3. A check-in on quiet days

If a day is unusually quiet, that person gets a check-in first. One tap tells everyone they're fine. Only if it stays quiet do the others get a reminder, so someone can call.

What counts as activity

  • The phone moved, or steps were counted. With your permission, steps come from Apple Health on iPhone or Google Play services on Android.
  • The phone was plugged in to charge or unplugged.
  • You opened Quiet Circle.
  • You unlocked the phone (only on a phone with a passcode, PIN, pattern or password).

Motion, steps, charging and unlocks are reduced on your phone to a yes or no for each hour. Step counts and unlock times never leave the phone. Opening the app sends a check-in with its time, and each update includes the battery level.

What we never collect

  • Your location (GPS, Wi-Fi or cell tower)
  • Which apps you use, or your screen time
  • Your contacts
  • Your messages
  • Your photos and videos

Quiet Circle has no ads and no analytics services, and we do not sell your data. The Privacy Policy lists everything we collect and how long we keep it.

Who it's for

  • Grown children of aging parents

For families who live apart and want an easy way to check on elderly parents and know a parent's day looks normal.

  • People living alone

For anyone who lives on their own and wants a daily check-in, so someone close notices if a day is unusually quiet.

  • Families who want peace of mind

For families who would like reassurance without a phone call every day.

Your choice, always

  • Each person agrees on their own phone before anything is shared.
  • You can pause sharing at any time in Profile > Share my activity. Your circles then see "Sharing paused".
  • You can leave a circle whenever you like.
  • You can delete your account in the app or by email.

Frequently asked questions

Is this location tracking?
No. Quiet Circle never reads your location. Your circle sees whether there were signs of activity, not where you are.
Is it an emergency service?
No. Quiet Circle is not an emergency service or a medical device. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
How is this different from a medical alert button?
Quiet Circle needs no wearable and no help button. It notices everyday signs of activity on each person's own phone, and on an unusually quiet day it sends that person a check-in first. Quiet Circle is not an emergency service and does not contact emergency services, so it is not a replacement for a medical alert system.
Does the person being checked on have to agree?
Yes. Each person installs Quiet Circle on their own phone and agrees on that phone before anything is shared.
Does my parent need a smartphone?
Yes. Each person in a circle needs their own iPhone or Android phone with Quiet Circle installed, because the signs of activity come from that phone.
Do they need to do anything every day?
No. Once Quiet Circle is set up, there is nothing to do each day. Normal phone use, such as carrying the phone around or charging it, counts as a sign of activity.
What happens on a quiet day?
That person gets a check-in first, and one tap tells everyone they're fine. If the day stays quiet, the others in the circle get a reminder so someone can call.
Can I stop sharing?
Yes. Turn off Profile > Share my activity. Your circles see "Sharing paused", and Quiet Circle sends no reminders or alerts about you while sharing is off.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile > Delete Account. Without the app, follow the steps on our account deletion page.
